Weekend Football Preview

Big games!

Premier League MW 6

Aston Villa vs. Leeds

2nd placed Villa take on 10th placed Leeds with Villa looking to continue their winning start to the season. Villa have fought hard to win last weekend and this is a game they can win as well. Leeds have impressed at times this season but are yet to go on a run of sorts. Villa can go top of the table for a day at least with a win while Leeds can climb up to 4th for a day. It should be an entertaining game which can go either way.

West Ham vs. Man City

9th placed West Ham take on 11th placed Man city with both teams in good form. West Ham did brilliantly to gain a point against Spurs last weekend and after a week of rest they should be raring to go. City beat Arsenal and then fought hard to beat Porto during the week but their defence has looked shaky. West Ham can go up to 4th with a win while City can do the same. This should be an entertaining game not least with the Hammers new signing Benrahma on the pitch.

Fulham vs. Crystal Palace

The London derby’s keep rolling on as this week Fulham entertain Palace. Fulham got their first point last weekend as they sit 20th while Palace drew last weekend but havent won in 3. The two teams are both searching for a win to regain form and this could be a feisty game a win for Fulham can take them out of the relegation zone while Palace can go up to 4th with a win.

Liverpool vs. Sheffield United

Liverpool sit 3rd as they take on Sheffield United who sit 19th. Liverpool haven’t won in two games and are now without Van Dijk for the season but Fabinho did well to fill in at CB against Ajax and so that doesn’t seem a problem at the moment. Sheffield United are struggling but finally managed their first point last weekend. Liverpool should win this game but considering how the season is going one never knows. Liverpool can go 2nd with a win while Sheffield United can climb out of the relegation zone.

Southampton vs. Everton

Southampton sit 12th as they take on league leaders Everton. The two teams drew last weekend and are looking to bounce back with wins. Everton will be without Rodriguez for this game with Richarlison and Coleman potentially missing as well. It will be a big test for this Everton side against a Hassenhutl team that is tough to beat. Southampton can go up to 4th with a win while Everton can extend their lead to 4 points depending on results elsewhere.

Wolverhampton vs. Newcastle

Wolves sit 6th as they take on 13th placed Newcastle who suffered a poor defeat against United last weekend. Wolves can go up to 3rd with the win while Newcastle can go up to 4th with the win. Newcastle need to bounce back after that defeat while Wolves will want to continue their winning run.

Arsenal vs. Leicester

5th placed Arsenal take on 4th placed Leicester in a top of the table battle. Leicester have lost their last 2 while Arsenal lost last weekend as they both played Europa League games during the week. Arsenal struggled to win while Leicester were comfortable winners at home. This should be an interesting game with both teams looking to keep their place in the top 5.

Brighton vs. West Brom

Brighton sit 16th as they take on West Brom who sit 17th with both teams looking return to winning ways. Brighton have won just the one game and have looked poor since a positive start while West Brom are still searching for their first win but looked good last weekend. A tight game is probably expected.

Burnley vs. Tottenham

18th placed Burnley are looking for their first win of the season but they face 7th placed Tottenham who have been scoring goals for fun. Tottenham will want to bounce back after dropping points against West Ham and Burnley look there for the taking. Spurs can go up to 3rd with the win.

La Liga MW 7

Valencia travel to Elche, Sevilla take on Eibar, Atletico entertain Real Betis, and the game of the weekend in Spain is a certain El Clasico as Barcelona welcome Real Madrid. Real Madrid and Barcelona both lost last weekend as 3 points separate them with Barcelona having a game in hand. It’s hard to call who will win this game with neither team clearly better than the other at the moment.

Serie MW 5

Atalanta welcome Sampdoria, Inter travel to Genoa, Lazio entertain Bologna, Napoli travel to Benevento, Juventus entertain Verona, and Milan welcome Roma in the toughest game in Italy this weekend. Milan are brilliant at the moment and will want to continue that run against Roma who have bounce back after a poor start to the season, an interesting game to watch.

Bundesliga MW 5

Leipzig entertain Hertha Berlin, Monchengladbach travel to Mainz, Bayern entertain Frankfurt, Dortmund take on Schalke in a derby, and Leverkusen welcome Augsburg. Dortmund vs Schalke is probably the biggest game this weekend in terms of stature and history in Germany. The two teams have looked wobbly and both will want to win the game to spark a revival in their season.

Ligue MW 8

Rennes take on Angers, Marseille travel to Lorient, PSG welcome Dijon, Lille travel to Nice, and Lyon take on Monaco. Some interesting games in Ligue 1 this weekend while PSG and Tuchel are under pressure after that dismal performance against United during the week.
