Time to continue that good form!
Chelsea travel to Turf Moor on Saturday evening to play Burnley who sit 18th in the league with a single point to their name. Sean Dyche’s latest loss came against Tottenham but the did well until the final few minutes when Son stole a win. One can expect the same from Burnley a low block and a strong counter they have scored 3 and conceded 9 in the league this season. Burnley didn’t have the greatest of transfer windows either as the only player with any reputation to come in was Dale Stephens from Brighton.
Chelsea head into this game having drawn their last two in the league. The draw in against United was a decent result while the win against Krasnodar was great especially the final 15 minutes. Last season this fixture saw Pulisic get a hattrick and Chelsea fan’s will be hoping for some of the same especially with the players around Pulisic at the moment. The interesting thing to see will be whether Lampard goes with a 4-3-3 which was devastating in the final 15 minutes against Krasnodar or a more conisderate 4-2-3-1. I personally would go with a 4-3-3 as I expect Chelsea will have plenty of the ball and will need more creative players on the pitch to handle Burnley’s low block.
Chelsea Team Preview
Mendy will continue in goal and I expect Reece James, Thiago Silva, Zouma, and Chilwell to start in defence. Azpilicueta should get a rest. Kante should start in the CDM role having been rested midweek while Havertz and Mount should start as the attacking 8’s with Mount also having had a rest. Pulisic, Ziyech, and Werner should start up front which. The front 5 of sorts should be a handful for Burnley especially Ziyech’s left foot which should add a special creative aspect to the game. Having a pivot will only hurt our creativity in the final 3rd and as we have seen in previous games it isolates the attack and defence.
Burnley Team Preview
Burnley will have all their usual players, Pope is a good goalkeeper and is hard to beat while the likes of Tarkowski, Lowton and Taylor make up a strong defence. McNeil is always a threat from the wings while Wood and Barnes are basically two bash brothers who play up front. Burnley are a very physical team and their main aim will be to stay solid and compact and get a counter or set piece to do the damage.
Starting XI Prediction
Burnley are always tricky mainly because they are very hard to break down but that is why Lampard and Chelsea have bought the likes of Havertz, and Ziyech into the team to help with these situations. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
