Teams book their places in the next round!

Champions League Group Stage MD 4

Group A

Bayern Munich 3 vs. 1 RB Salzburg

Lewandowski scored before half time to give Bayern the lead. Coman then made it 2 right at the start of the 2nd half. Roca was sent off for Bayern in the 66th minute but Sane made it 3 for Bayern 2 minutes later. Berisha got one back for Salzburg but it was nothing more than consolation. Bayern win 4/4 and so seal a place in the Round of 16 and also seal top spot in the group being 7 points ahead of Atletico with 2 games to go. Salzburg can still make it to the Round of 16 as they sit 4 points behind Atletico but they would need to win their remaining games and hope results go in their favour.

Atletico Madrid 0 vs. 0 Lokomotiv Moskva

A goalless draw between the two teams as neither could break the other down. Atletico still sit 2nd but are far from safe as Lokomotiv are just 2 points behind them. All to fight for the other 3 teams in Group A.

Group B

Inter Milan 0 vs. 2 Real Madrid

Hazard scored a penalty in the 7th minute to give Real the lead while Vidal was sent off for Inter in the 33rd minute for dissent. Hakimi then scored an own goal in the 2nd half to give Real a 2 goal advantage and eventually the 3 points. Real sit 2nd in the group with 7 points but are only 5 points above bottom placed Inter and so still need to do some work to qualify. Inter with 2 points have to win their remaining games to stand any chance of making the Round of 16.

Monchengladbach 4 vs. 0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Stindl, Elvedi, Embolo, and Wendt all scored in a big win for Monchengladbach against Shakhtar. The Germans sit top of the group with 8 points but need one more win to seal a place in the Round of 16 with Shakhtar only 4 points behind them. Shakhtar are also still in a good position to make the next round.

Group C

Olympiacos 0 vs. 1 Man City

Foden scored the only goal of the game for City in the 36th minute as Pep and co made it 4/4 and sealed a place in the Round of 16. Olympiacos sit 3rd, 6 points behind Porto and mathematically they can still reach the Round of 16 but they would need Porto to lose their next 2 games heavily. Olympiakos are realistically fighting for a Europa League place.

Marseille 0 vs. 2 Porto

Sanusi scored in the 1st half while Grujic was sent off in the 67th minute for Porto following which Balerdi was sent off in the 70th minute for Marseille. Oliveira scored a penalty for Porto in the 72nd minute to seal the 3 points. Porto have all but sealed a place in the Round of 16 and will now fight it out for 1st and 2nd with City. Marseille stand no chance of making the Round of 16 but can still finish 3rd as they remain 3 points behind Olympiakos.

Group D

Ajax 3 vs. 1 Midtjylland

Gravenberch, Mazraoui, and Neres all scored in the early moments of the 2nd half to give Ajax a 3-0 lead. Mabil got one back for Midtjylland in the 80th minute via a penalty but it was only consolation as Sviatchenko was sent off for the away team in extra time. Ajax sit 2nd in the table and the win seals a Europa League finish at the least but it’s all to fight for in terms of the top 2 places. Midtjylland with 0 points can no longer finish 3rd and so all they can be in the remaining games is a thorn to the other sides as the minnows fight for some pride.

Liverpool 0 vs. 2 Atalanta

Ilicic, and Gosens scored in the 60th and 64th minute for Atalanta as the Italians stunned Liverpool at home to hand the English champions their first defeat at Anfield since 2018. Liverpool still sit top of the group but only 2 points ahead of Ajax and Atalanta with nothing certain at this stage. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd all up for grabs in this group.

Group E

Krasnodar 1 vs. 2 Sevilla

Rakitic scored in the 4th minute to give Sevilla the lead but Campos got one back for Krasnodar in the 56th minute. It looked like Krasnodar would be able to manage a draw but El Haddadi scored in the 95th minute to seal 3 points for Sevilla. Sevilla sit 2nd in the group with 10 points, level on points with Chelsea as this group is sorted and sealed. All that is left to see is who finishes 1st and 2nd over the next two games and who finishes 3rd between Krasnodar and Rennes.

Group F

Lazio 3 vs. 1 Zenit

Immobile scored in the 3rd minute to give Lazio the lead while Parolo made it 2 in the 22nd minute. Dzyuba got one back for Zenit 3 minutes later but an Immobile penalty in the 2nd half was enough to seal the win for Lazio. Lazio sit 2nd with the win 4 points ahead of Club Brugge as the top 3 places are still up for grabs. Zenit sit bottom and can now realistically only finish 3rd in the group.

Dortmund 3 vs. 0 Club Brugge

Haaland and Sancho scored in the 1st half while Haaland added a 3rd in the 2nd half as Dortmund sealed a comfortable win over Brugge. Dortmund sit top of the table with 9 points, 5 clear of Brugge and a win in their next game should seal a place in the Round of 16. Brugge sit 3rd 4 points behind Lazio and can still make the Round of 16 but they need to win their remaining games.

Group G

Dynamo Kyiv 0 vs. 4 Barcelona

After a goalless 1st half Barcelona came alive in the 2nd as Dest scored 1, Braithwaite scored 2 while Griezmann added a goal in extra time. Barcelona make it 4/4 and seal a place in the Round of 16 with the win. Kyiv sit 3rd and now battle it out with Ferencvaros for who finishes 3rd in the group.

Juventus 2 vs. 1 Ferencvaros

Uzuni scored in the 19th minute to give the Hungarians a lead but Ronaldo equalised in the 35th minute for Juventus. Morata then scored the winner in extra time to seal 3 points for the Italians and progression the Round of 16. Juventus and Barcelona will now fight it out for the top 2 positions while Ferencvaros sit bottom of the group but can still finish 3rd.

Group H

Man United 4 vs. 1 Istanbul Basaksehir

Fernandes scored 2 while Rashford added a 3rd in the 1st half as United took a 3-0 lead against Istanbul. Turuc got one back for the Turkish side in the 2nd half but James scored in extra time to seal a comfortable win for United. United remain top of the group and but only 6 points above Istanbul with everything still open to all sides in this group.

Paris Saint Germain 1 vs. 0 RB Leipzig

Neymar scored a penalty in the 11th minute and it was enough to seal 3 points on the night with Nagelsmann and co having no reply. PSG move into 2nd in the group above Leipzig on goal difference and 3 points behind United. These two teams can still finish in the top 2 though with some big games ahead.

Europa League Group Stage MD 4

Braga 3 vs. 3 Leicester (Group G)

A highly entertaining game with points shared between the two teams. Elmusrati gave Braga the lead in the 4th minute before Barnes equalised for Leicester in the 9th minute. Paulinho restored Braga’s lead in the 24th minute but Thomas equalised for Leicester in the 78th minute. Barbosa felt like he scored the winner for Braga in the 90th minute but Vardy equalised for Leicester in the 95th minute to take a point. Leicester seal progression to the Round of 32 with the point while Braga sit 2nd 4 points clear of Athens and anything still open.

Lille 1 vs. 1 AC Milan (Group H)

Castillejo scored in the 46th minute to give AC Milan the lead but Bamba equalised for Lille in the 65th minute. Neither team could get the winner as they shared the points. Lille and Milan remain 1st and 2nd but Prague sit 3rd with 6 points as the top 2 position remain open for the 3 teams.

Molde 0 vs. 3 Arsenal (Group B)

Pepe, Nelson, and Balogun all scored in the 2nd half as Arsenal sealed a win over Molde. Arsenal sit 6 points clear of 3rd and have all but sealed a place in the Round of 32. Molde with 2 defeats get dragged back down into a fight for 2nd.

Tottenham 4 vs. 0 Ludogorets (Group J)

Vinicius scored 2 while Winks and Moura added the rest as Tottenham won comfortably against Ludogorets. Tottenham sit 2nd in the group though 3 points above LASK and so nothing is certain at the moment. Ludogorets on the other hand won’t be making it to the next round of this years Europa League.
