Midweek Football Preview

Some big games after the weekend!

Premier League MW 13

Man City vs. West Brom

City sit 9th in the table after the draw at the weekend while West Brom sit 19th in the table. This should be a straight forward win for City which can take them as high as 6th in the table. West Brom will be boosted by the results of Fulham and Burnley at the weekend and will hope that they can manage a point or more. City should win this though.

Arsenal vs. Southampton

Massive game for 15th placed Arsenal as another loss could see them 2 points away from the relegation zone. Southampton are flying high as they sit 4th in the table and are looking to push for a place in Europe. On current form Southampton should win this while Arsenal have to start winning or rather Arteta needs to start winning as the situation turns toxic.

Leeds vs. Newcastle

14th placed Leeds are looking for a win as they travel to 12th placed Newcastle who won at the weekend. It’s a game between two mid table sides and it will be interesting to see how Bielsa and co recover after some tough results.

Leicester vs. Everton

3rd placed Leicester can go top of the table if they beat Everton who sit 7th and beat Chelsea at the weekend. It should be an interesting game between two top managers. Leicester are in better form when it comes to style of play while Everton basically ground out their win against Chelsea after getting a penalty.

Fulham vs. Brighton

Fulham did well to get a point against Liverpool when they should have got 3 as they sit 18th in the table. Brighton sit 16th 2 points from Fulham so this is a big game. Fulham can bring Brighton into the conversation for survival with a win while Brighton have not been great and need 3 points themselves.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham

A massive game between the top 2 who are separated by goal difference. Liverpool and Tottenham both come into this game having drawn at the weekend and will be wanting a win. Liverpool will be motivated by their supporters in the stadium and we all know how they will play. Tottenham will look to counter as usual so this game will be one two watch. This game could also be a draw but I think both teams will want to open up a gap from the other.

West Ham vs. Crystal Palace

6th placed West Ham are flying high as they entertain 11th placed Palace who themselves are playing well for what is an exciting London derby. The two teams are looking to climb up the table and both have exciting players like Benrahma and Zaha who can cause problems. This could be a very close game and can go either way.

Aston Villa vs. Burnley

10th placed Villa take on 17th placed Burnley with Villa looking to remain in the top 10 while Burnley look at moving up the table. Burnley have begun to pick up some form in recent weeks while Villa have been inconsistent. The result could go either way.

Sheffield United vs. Man United

Bottom and winless Sheffield United go again against 8th placed United as Wilder looks to win a game. Sheffield United should be motivated by the results the teams around them are managing but it just doesn’t seem to be clicking for them. United should win this but Sheffield United will hope they can manage something.

La Liga (Games in hand)

Real Madrid play Bilbao, while Barcelona entertain Real Sociedad as the teams play their games in hand. Tough games for all the teams in involved and the results could go either way. Real Madrid need to continue their momentum from the past week while Barcelona need starting racking up points.

Serie MW 12

Lazio travel to Benevento, Juventus entertain Atalanta, Milan travel to Genoa, Inter entertain Napoli, and Roma take on Torino. Some entertaining games in Italy during the week and Milan will want to extend their lead at the top of the table with top teams playing each other.

Bundesliga MW 12

Monchengladbach travel to Frankfurt, Dortmund travel to Werder Bremen, Leipzig travel to Hoffenheim, Bayern entertain Wolfsburg, and Leverkusen travel to Koln. The Bundesliga kicks on with several teams wanting to bounce back after poor results during the weekend. Dortmund are going to be under new management after Favre was sacked on Sunday and it will be interesting to see how they bounce back.

Ligue MW 15

Lille travel to Dijon, PSG entertain Lorient, Lyon welcome Brest, Monaco entertain Lens, Rennes take on Marseille. The race in France is finally interesting as the teams pick up some form. PSG will be without Neymar for some games while the rest look to take advantage.
