Chelsea travel to play Wolves on Tuesday night for MW 13 of the Premier League season. Wolves sit 13th in the table having lost their last two games, and only having won 1 of their last 5. Inconsistent would be the perfect word to describe Wolves as on their day they can beat a top 6 team but equally they can also lose to any team in the league. Nuno has switched the formation to a 4-2-3-1 this season as the old 3-4-3 had been found out by several teams. This formation has allowed Wolves to offer more of a threat going forward while they remain defensively solid most of the time. Wolves have been caught out by bigger teams though.
Chelsea go into this game not having had the best of weeks, a draw against Krasnodar and a loss to Everton put breaks on the momentum that had been built up over the last few months. Chelsea will now need to bounce back to stay in the mix of the top four as we sit 5th in the table at the moment. The Everton result was more of a blip and the game felt like one that wasn’t going to change and so the best thing that Lampard and co can do is to pick themselves up and move on to Wolves.
Chelsea Team Preview
Chelsea will be without Ziyech, and CHO but the rest are available. The big question is whether Pulisic starts although if he is fit he should get 60 minutes. Mendy will remain in goal with Reece James, Zouma, Silva, and Chilwell in defence. Kante, Mount, and Havertz should make up the midfield with Werner, Giroud, and Pulisic up front. There are of course different players that Lampard can play for example Havertz could remain on the wing with Werner play centrally, or Lampard could change the formation. The 4-3-3 though should stick.
Wolverhampton Team Preview
The big injury for Wolves remains Jimenez who thankfully is recovering from his skull fracture and is fine now. Wolves have several dangerous players though, Neto has been in fine form while Traore is always a handful for any team. Podence has proven to be a tricky customer since signing while the likes of Moutinho, and Neves can always pick a pass. The defence is decent with Coady, Boly, Semedo, Saiss, and Marcal all available. Fabio Silva as the striker is highly rated but hasn’t hit the ground running. Wolves are a tricky team and Chelsea will have to be up to the mark.
Starting XI Prediction
A tricky fixture for Chelsea but Wolves are a tricky team. Time to bounce back from last week and continue that momentum. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
