Premier League MW 20

Newcastle 1 vs. 2 Leeds

Raphinha scored in the 17th minute to give Leeds the lead and it took till the 57th minute for Newcastle to equalise via Almiron. Harrison though scored the winner in the 61st minute as Leeds took 3 points and dealt yet another defeat to Newcastle and Steve Bruce. Newcastle remain 16th 6 points above the relegation zone while Leeds remain 12th. 

Crystal Palace 2 vs. 3 West Ham

Zaha scored within 3 minutes to give Palace the lead in this London Derby. Soucek then scored in the 9th minute to equalise for West Ham, while he scored his 2nd in the 25th minute to give the Hammers a lead. Dawson made it 3 in the 65th minute while Michy got a consolation goal for Palace in extra time. West Ham continue their great run of form as they move up to 5th 2 points from 4th while Palace drop down to 14th in the table. 

Southampton 1 vs. 3 Arsenal

Armstrong scored in the 3rd minute for Southampton as it looked like it would be a replay of the FA Cup game but Arsenal had a stronger team on the pitch and they managed to turn it around. Pepe equalised in the 8th minute, Saka got the lead in the 39th minute, and Lacazette made it 3 in the 72nd minute as Arsenal got 3 points. Southampton drop down into 11th in the table while Arsenal move up to 9th level on points with Chelsea. 

West Brom 0 vs. 5 Man City

Gundogan scored 2, while Cancelo, Mahrez, and Sterling got 1 each as City ran riot against West Brom. West Brom remain 19th 7 points from safety and only 3 above Sheffield United now. Man City go top of the table 1 point clear with a game in hand. 

Burnley 3 vs. 2 Aston Villa

Watkins scored in the 14th minute to give Villa the lead, and it looked like it would stay that way until the 2nd half when Burnley switched gears. Mee scored in the 52nd minute to equalise for the home team but Grealish restored Villa’s lead in the 68th minute. McNeil then equalised for Burnley in the 76th minute, and Wood grabbed the winner in the 79th minute. Burnley remain 15th but only a point behind Palace while Villa drop down to 10th with only one win in their last 5 games. 

Brighton 0 vs. 0 Fulham

All these teams seem to do is draw and they did that once again as neither could score agains the other. Brighton remain 17th 5 points above Fulham who sit 18th. 

Man United 1 vs. 2 Sheffield United

League leaders at the time Man United suffered a harsh reality check as bottom of the table Sheffield United go their 2 win of the season at Old Trafford. Kean Bryan scored in the 23rd minute for Sheffield United but Maguire equalised in the 64th minute. It looked like United would steal yet another win but Sheffield United got the three points via a late goal from Burke in the 74th minute. United had no reply. United drop down to 2nd a point behind City while Sheffield United remain bottom of the table 10 points from safety. 

Everton 1 vs. 1 Leicester

Rodriguez scored a brilliant goal in the 30th minute to give Everton the lead but Tielemans equalised for Leicester in the 67th minute. The two teams shared the points. Everton drop down to 7th with the point while Leicester remain 3rd with the point 2 points from the top. 

Tottenham 1 vs. 3 Liverpool

Liverpool finally managed to win a game in 2021 and also scored for the first time in the league this year as they beat Tottenham comfortably. Firmino broke the deadlock right before half time while Alexander-Arnold made it 0-2 in the 47th minute. Hojbjerg got one back for Tottenham in the 49th minute but Mane made it 3 in the 65th minute as Liverpool got 3 points. Spurs drop down to 6th as a run of decent form comes to an end while Liverpool remain 4th. 

Copa Del Rey Round of 16

Villarreal beat Girona 0-1, Real Betis beat Real Sociedad 3-1, Sevilla beat Valencia 3-0, and Barcelona beat Rayo Vallecano 1-2 among other fixtures. The competition continues with some of the top teams still around to win the trophy. 

Coppa Italia Quarter-Finals

Inter beat Milan 2-1 in a game that took the headlines for an altercation between Zlatan and Lukaku. Atalanta beat Lazio 3-2, Juventus beat SPAL 4-0, and Napoli beat Spezia 4-2. The top teams continue on at the expense of others with two very good semi-finals on show for the next round.
