Back to the FA Cup!
FA Cup 5th Round
Burnley vs. Bournemouth
Burnley beat Fulham 0-3 in the last round and have since won 1 game, drawn 1, and lost 2 in the league. Bournemouth beat Crawley Town 2-1 in the last round and have since lost 2 and won 1. Neither team is in great form at the moment but both teams are at a decent enough level for this game to be close. The result could go either way. Bournemouth are without a permanent manager though.
Man United vs. West Ham
Man United beat Liverpool 3-2 in the last round and they have since won 1, drawn 2 and lost 1 in the league. West Ham beat Doncaster 4-0 in the last round and they have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1 in the league. Based on form since the last round West Ham are better by a bit but the FA Cup is United’s only realistic chance at a trophy and Ole will know that. This will be a game to watch for the neutrals and Moyes will want to get one over his old club.
Swansea vs. Man City
Swansea beat Nottingham Forest 5-1 in the last round, and since then they have won 2 and drawn 1. City beat Cheltenham 1-3 in the last round and they have since won all four of their games. City are looking to complete a treble this season and are on course for all three domestic titles at the moment. Swansea have played well this season and are on course to re enter the Premier League but Man City should be a step too far for now.
Leicester vs. Brighton
Leicester beat Brentford 1-3 in the last round and they have since won 1, drawn 2 and lost 1. Brighton beat Blackpool 2-1 in the last round, having since won 2 and drawn 2 games. Form wise Brighton are in better form and beat Tottenham and Liverpool over the last week or so. This should be an interesting game and with Leicester struggling a bit at the moment Brighton could cause a surprise.
Sheffield United vs. Bristol City
Sheffield beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 in the last round having since won 2 and lost 2 of their games. Bristol beat Millwall 0-3 in the last round and they have since won 1, and lost 3 of their games. Sheffield United are in better form and played well in all of their recent games. Wilder and team should be able to beat Bristol.
Everton vs. Tottenham
Everton beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 in the last round and they have since won 1, drawn 2, and lost 1 in the league. Tottenham beat Wycombe 1-4 in the last round having since won 1 and lost 3. Everton are the team in form but Mourinho knows that a trip to the final for Tottenham fans would be a massive boost and if they can somehow manage to win the trophy he would have done better regardless of where they finish in the league. Ancelotti is no novice though and this should be an interesting game.
Wolverhampton vs. Southampton
Wolves beat Chorley 0-1 in the last round having since won 1, drawn 2 and lost 1 in the league. Southampton beat Arsenal 1-0 in the last round, but have since lost all 4 of their games in the league as they go through some very poor form. Wolves will feel that they can capitalise and win this game but Southampton and Hassenhutl have a point to prove.
La Liga (Game in hand)
Real Madrid take on Getafe as they play their game in hand. Real Madrid are in inconsistent form but a win could bring them closer to Atletico and within 5 points. Atletico have 2 games in hand though so Real Madrid can’t afford to lose or drop points.
Copa Del Rey Semi-Final 1st Leg
Sevilla take on Barcelona, and Bilbao take on Levante. One would say that Bilbao would be favourites in their fixture while anything can happen between Sevilla and Barcelona. Barcelona have been poor recently but as long as Messi is there anything can happen.
Coppa Italia Semi-Final 2nd Leg
Juventus beat Inter 1-2 in the 1st leg and go into this game with a slight upper hand. Atalanta and Napoli had a goalless draw in the 1st leg so everything is a bit straightforward in their fixture. The results could go either way in both games.
