A big weekend of football!
Premier League MW 25
Wolverhampton vs. Leeds
12th vs. 11th in this game with both teams fighting to enter the top 10. Wolves are in better form compared to Leeds but Leeds tend to turn up on their own accord. This game could go either way. Wolves beat Leeds in the reverse tie 0-1.
Burnley vs. West Brom
15th placed Burnley take on 19th placed West Brom and if there was ever a time that West Brom had to start winning it would be now. West Brom find themselves 12 points from safety and are sitting comfortable in the elevator down to the Championship. Burnley are looking to climb up the table and can move as high as 13th with a win. The reverse fixture was a goalless draw.
Liverpool vs. Everton
6th placed Liverpool have lost their last 3 games in a row while 7th placed Everton have lost their last 2 games and sit 3 points behind Liverpool. It’s a big game for both teams but Liverpool have to win if they want to stay close to the top four. If Everton win they can open up the race for 4th even further. A big Merseyside derby and the complete opposite to the one played at Goodison Park. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.
Fulham vs. Sheffield United
18th placed Fulham can go within 3 points of safety if they beat Sheffield United who are all but relegated at this point. The Blades would have to win several games to stand any chance of safety and Fulham are the team in better form on the pitch. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
West Ham vs. Tottenham
A big London derby as 5th placed West Ham take on 9th placed Tottenham. Spurs sit 6 points behind West Ham and have lost 4 of their last 5 while West Ham are in great form. Tottenham need to win to cut the gap to the top because a win for West Ham would be disastrous for Spurs European hopes. An interesting game. The reverse fixture was a 3-3 draw.
Aston Villa vs. Leicester
8th placed Villa take on 3rd placed Leicester with Leicester looking to move into 2nd. Villa similar to Spurs need to win to cut the gap to the top four but Villa also have 2 games in hand. This should be a close game between two entertaining teams. Villa won the reverse fixture 0-1.
Arsenal vs. Man City
Super Sunday continues with 10th placed Arsenal taking on leaders Manchester City. City are unstoppable at the moment but Arsenal could go above local rivals Spurs with a win. This should be a win for City but Arsenal will make it difficult. Man City won the reverse fixture 1-0.
Man United vs. Newcastle
2nd placed United have 1 win in their last 5 as they take on 17th placed Newcastle who have switched between wins and losses in recent games. According to the trent Newcastle are due a win in this game and United will be tired after having travelled to Turin to play Real Sociedad with minimal rotation. United need to win with some difficult fixtures ahead and Newcastle also need to win to stay above the relegation zone. An interesting one. United won the reverse fixture 1-4.
Brighton vs. Crystal Palace
16th placed Brighton are on an unbeaten run but have only won 1 of their last 5 games while Palace sit 14th having lost their last 2. A win for the Seagulls can put them level on points with the Eagles and it should be a close game. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
La Liga MW 24
Atletico take on Levante once again, Real Madrid travel to Valladolid, Barcelona entertain Cadiz, Villarreal travel to Bilbao, and Sevilla travel to Osasuna. Atletico sit 6 points clear at the top but they struggled to beat Levante during the week and if Levante can replicate that performance then that lead could be cut. Of course the rest of the teams also have to put in a positive performance.
Serie A MW 23
Lazio take on Sampdoria, Milan take on Inter in a massive derby, Napoli travel to Atalanta, Roma travel to Benevento, and Juventus take on Crotone. Inter sit a point clear of Milan and a win for Conte would take them 4 clear of of their rivals. A win for Milan would put them 2 clear of Inter. Roma and Juventus will be hoping one of the teams drop points and they win their games to cut the gap to the top. Some tough games for the Europa League placed teams as well as gaps could appear once this weekend is over.
Bundesliga MW 22
Bayern take on Frankfurt, Monchengladbach welcome Mainz, Dortmund travel to Schalke for a derby, Leverkusen travel to Augsburg, Leipzig travel to Hertha Berlin, and Hoffenheim play Werder Bremen. Bayern sit 5 points clear at the top but Frankfurt sit 3rd and are decent opposition. If Bayern slip up the rest need to be ready to take advantage, its a big if though.
Ligue 1 MW 26
Lyon travel to Brest, Lille travel to Lorient, and PSG welcome Monaco. PSG sit a point from the top and Lille will hope that Monaco can get something out of the PSG game and Les Douges can win their game to increase that advantage. PSG will be riding high from their Champions League win and Monaco will have to be at their best.
