The race for the top four heats up!

Premier League MW 30

Leeds 2 vs. 1 Sheffield United

Harrison scored in the 12th minute to give Leeds the lead, but Osborn equalised for Sheffield United right before half time. Jagielka then scored an own goal in the 49th minute to restore Leeds lead and that was enough to see them over the line. Leeds remain 11th but now level on points with Arsenal while Sheffield United are bottom and 15 points from safety with time running out. 

Leicester 0 vs. 2 Man City

Mendy and Jesus scored in the 2nd half to give Man City a hard fought win against Leicester who had no reply for the leaders. Leicester remain 3rd but 4 points behind 2nd and 5 ahead of 4th. It’s a finely poised situation to be in. City remain 14 points clear at the top as they get ready to lift the trophy in a couple games time. 

Arsenal 0 vs. 3 Liverpool

Arsenal did nothing in this game but still managed to keep it 0-0 until Jota came on in the 2nd half. The Portuguese added the extra oomph to Liverpool’s attack and he gave them the lead in the 64th minute. Salah made it 2 in the 68th minute and Jota added another in the 82nd minute. A comfortable win for Liverpool as they remain 7th but 3 points from 4th. Arsenal drop into 10th again with the loss. 

Southampton 3 vs. 2 Burnley

Wood scored a 12th minute penalty to give Burnley the lead while Vydra made it 0-2 in the 28th minute. Armstrong got one back for Southampton in the 31st minute while Ings equalised before half time. Redmond scored the winner in the 66th minute to take all 3 points for the Saints. A big win for Hassenhutl and team as they move into 13th while Burnley remain 15th with the loss. 

Newcastle 2 vs. 2 Tottenham

Joelinton gave Newcastle the lead in the 28th minute. Kane equalised for Spurs two minutes later and then gave Tottenham the lead in the 34th minute. Spurs looked like they would hole on for the 3 points but Willock equalised in the 85th minute to slash those chances. Newcastle managed to get a point as they remain 17th, 3 points above the relegation zone, with a game in hand over Fulham. Spurs remain 6th with the draw and 3 points from 4th. 

Aston Villa 3 vs. 1 Fulham

After what was a tight opening 60 minutes the game finally flew open in the final 30. Mitrovic gave Fulham the lead in the 61st minute but Villa had other plans in mind. Trezeguet equalised in the 78th minute and gave Villa the lead in the 81st minute while Watkins made it 3 in the 87th minute to seal the win. Villa move into 9th with the win having a game in hand. Fulham suffer a damaging loss as they remain 18th in the the table and 3 points from safety. 

Man United 2 vs. 1 Brighton

Brighton dominated the 1st half of this game as United were extremely poor. Welbeck gave Brighton the lead in the 13th minute and Brighton should have had a couple more. United had a better 2nd half and managed to equalise in the 62nd minute via Rashford thanks to some fortune. Brighton were then denied a stonewall penalty as Maguire brought down Welbeck and United then got the lead through Greenwood in the 83rd minute. Ole can once again thank the leprechaun he worships as his good luck saves him yet again. United go 4 points clear of 3rd as they sit 2nd. Brighton remain 16th in the table with the loss. 

Everton 1 vs. 1 Crystal Palace

How Everton did not win this game only they know. Everton dominated the 1st half in what was a pretty open game but Guaita was on a different planet as he saved anything and everything that came in front of him. Everton finally managed to get the lead in the 56th minute via James Rodriguez but Palace equalised in the final moments thanks to Michy. Everton remain 8th with the draw while Palace can thank Guaita as they remain 12th. 

Wolverhampton 2 vs 3 West Ham

Lingard, Fornals, and Bowen scored in the opening 40 minutes to give West Ham a 0-3 lead as they dominated the 1st half. Dendoncker got one back for Wolves right before half time. Silva then made it 2 for Wolves in the 68th minute and West Ham must have been thinking this is going to be Arsenal all over again. Wolves though could not find the final goal and suffered the loss. Wolves drop into 14th while West Ham fly into 4th as they go a point above Chelsea. Moyes is truly in a Champions League race. 

La Liga MW 29

Villarreal beat Granada 0-3, Real Madrid beat Eibar 2-0, Sevilla beat Atletico 1-0, and Barcelona beat Valladolid 1-0. Atletico’s poor form continues as they see their lead at the top get cut down to 1 point. Barcelona’s great form has seen them become favourites in this title race as they remain 2nd while Real Madrid are still within touching distance in 3rd, 2 points behind Barcelona. Sevilla sit 4th and 8 points above 5th. The title race seemed one sided a couple of weeks ago but Atletico have invited Barcelona and Real Madrid back into the race. 

Serie MW 29

Milan drew with Sampdoria 1-1, Atalanta beat Udinese 3-2, Napoli beat Crotone 4-3, Roma drew with Sassuolo 2-2, Lazio beat Spezia 2-1, Juventus drew with Torino 2-2, and Inter beat Bologna 0-1. A big week for Inter as they go 8 points clear of Milan at the top of the table, with a game in hand. Milan remain 2nd but only 2 points above 3rd placed Atalanta. Juventus drop into 4th 2 points behind Atalanta and level on points with Napoli who sit 5th. Lazio and Roma sit 6th and 7th. The title race is firmly in Inter’s hands while the rest are fighting for the top four at the moment. 

Bundesliga MW 27

Leverkusen beat Schalke 2-1, Frankfurt beat Dortmund 1-2, Bayern beat Leipzig 0-1, Monchengladbach beat Freiburg 2-1. Bayern take the lead as they go 7 points clear of Leipzig at the top of the table with the title firmly their’s to lose. Leipzig once again are fighting for 2nd now as they sit 3 clear of 3rd placed Wolfsburg. Frankfurt sit 4th 7 points above 5th placed Dortmund who are struggling for form. Leverkusen are 6th while Monchengladbach are 9th. It’s going to take a massive change in fortunes for the top four to change in Germany and for the title to be taken from Bayern. 

Ligue MW 31

Monaco beat Metz 4-0, Lille beat PSG 0-1, and Lyon drew with Lens 1-1. Lille go 3 points clear at the top of the table after a big win against PSG. PSG remain 2nd while Monaco are a point behind them in 3rd. Lyon are a point behind Monaco in 4th. The title race is still very close in France after PSG’s poor form. Lille though have a slight advantage as Ligue 1 enters its final stages.
