Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea GW 31 Preview

London Derby!

Chelsea travel to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace on Saturday as we look to bounce back in the league after last weekend’s defeat. Palace sit 12th in the league having won 1, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 5 games. Palace have been decent this season and are around and about where they should be in the table. Hodgson has done a decent job given all his experience and he has guided the team to a stable season.

Chelsea didn’t have the best time against West Brom and it was Tuchel’s first defeat. We managed to put in a positive performance to get a big away win against Porto but it’s time to bounce back in the league now. Goal scoring is still an issue that Tuchel needs to resolve and Chelsea have still not scored more than 3 goals in a game under the German. The scoring problems have led to a big debate amongst Chelsea fans on who should start up front. Pre-match Tuchel was asked about Tammy and he said that due to a myriad of reasons Tammy is still taking time to adjust. All Tammy can do is work hard and convince him that he should play. On Werner and Havertz Tuchel said that they will continue to play and the good form will come. To many they see this as a contradiction. I think this topic deserves a bigger post but my view is that I personally don’t care who starts up front but all our players need to start scoring. Timo and Kai are going nowhere and will be big players. Giroud is still trustworthy. Academy players are starting regularly. Tammy has not signed a new contract and Chelsea are looking to sign a striker. Tammy is a consequence of the change in regime and he is expendable. If he starts and he score than great. Am I crying about it? No.

Chelsea Team Preview

Mendy should start in goal with Christensen, Silva, and Zouma making up the back four. Rudiger could play but I think Azpilicueta will be rested. Reece James should start on the right to handle the threat of Eze while Chilwell should start on the right. Kante, and Kovacic will probably start but I wouldn’t mind seeing Gilmour given a chance. Up front I think Pulisic Ziyech and Tammy could start. Mount and Havertz might be rested although I think Werner could start ahead of Tammy as well. Pulisic is looking good while Ziyech did not feature against Porto and will be fresh after coming off after 30 minutes against West Brom. Many different options that Tuchel can play with but this is the team I think we will field. The main thing though is that we have to be clinical in front of goal.

Crystal Palace Preview

Michy is out because he can’t play against Chelsea due to us being his parent club. Guaita was top class against Everton last weekend and was one of the main reasons they got a point. Van Aanholt and Cahill are two ex Chelsea players in the defence while Kouyate and Ward are also quite good. Riedelwald and Milivojevic have added a solidity in the midfield while Eze and Ayew offer that creativity from the wings. Up front Zaha is the main threat but Benteke has also found form in front of goal in recent games. A talented team and one that can cause problems.

It’s a big weekend in terms of the top four race! United are playing Spurs, while West Ham are playing Leicester. Chelsea need to bounce back with a win and I think we will. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
