West Ham lead the league!

Premier League MW 2

Liverpool 2 vs. 0 Burnley

Jota scored in the first half and Mane scored in the 2nd as Liverpool got a routine win against Burnley. It was the first game at Anfield with a packed crowd since two seasons ago which was a welcome sight to all. Liverpool remain 3rd in the table with the win while Burnley drop down to 17th with two losses in a row. 

Aston Villa 2 vs. 0 Newcastle

Ings scored right before half time while El Ghazi converted a penalty in the 62nd minute to seal Villa’s first win of the season in front of their own supporters. Villa move up to 10th in the table with the win while Newcastle suffer a 2nd successive loss and drop down to 18th in the table. Villa will hope to build on this while Newcastle need get some points on the board.

Crystal Palace 0 vs. 0 Brentford

The first draw of the Premier League season in this London derby as neither team could score past the other. Palace move up to 14th in the table while Brentford drop down to 8th. Palace and Vieira’s first point in a better performance while Brentford remain unbeaten in their first two.

Leeds 2 vs. 2 Everton

Calvert-Lewin scored a penalty in the 30th minute to give Everton the lead but Klich equalised for Leeds in the 41st minute. Gray then restored Everton’s lead in the 50th minute but Raphinha equalised with a brilliant goal in the 72nd minute. Leeds get their first point of the season as they move up to 15th while Everton drop down to 7th. 

Man City 5 vs. 0 Norwich

Krul scored an own goal in the 7th minute to give Man City the lead and the home team and champions added goals by Grealish, Laporte, Sterling, and Mahrez to round of their first win of the season. Man City move up to 9th in the table while Norwich suffer a 2nd loss and remain bottom of the league.

Brighton 2 vs. 0 Watford

Duffy and Maupay scored in the 1st half to give Brighton the lead and the Seagulls held on to it for the win. Brighton make it 2 wins in 2 to start the season as they sit 4th in the Premier League while Watford suffer their first loss and drop down to 11th in the league. 

Southampton 1 vs. 1 Man United

Fred scored an own goal in the 30th minute to give Southampton the lead while United equalised in the 55th minute via Greenwood. Southampton did well to hold on to the point although United did not seem up to the task. Southampton get their first point of the season which takes them into 13th while United drop down to 6th in the table. 

Wolverhampton 0 vs. 1 Tottenham

Alli scored a 10th minute penalty and that was enough for Nuno and Spurs as they got another win. Wolves are yet to score this season and suffer a 2nd loss as they 16th in the table while Tottenham move up to 5th in the table. 

West Ham 4 vs. 1 Leicester

Fornals scored in the 26th minute to give West Ham the lead. Perez was then sent off for Leicester in the 40th minute although the intention of the tackle was questionable. Benrahma made it 2 in the 56th minute before Tielemans got one back in the 69th minute. Antonio scored two in the final 10 minutes to seal the win for West Ham. West Ham go top of the table with a dominant display at home, while Leicester drop down to 12th in the table. 

La Liga MW 2

Valencia drew with Granada 1-1, Villarreal drew with Espanyol 0-0, Barcelona drew with Bilbao 1-1, Atletico beat Elche 1-0, Real Madrid drew with Levante 3-3, and Sevilla beat Getafe 0-1. A good weekend for Sevilla and Atletico as the two go 1st and 2nd, Real Madrid and Barcelona complete the top four. Valencia sit 6th and Villarreal 15th in the table. Barcelona and Real are getting to grips with the new season while Sevilla and Atletico have hit the ground running.

Serie MW 1

Inter beat Genoa 4-0 to kick off the post Conte era in style. Lazio beat Empoli 1-3 to get Sarri his first win. Atalanta beat Torino 1-2, while Juventus drew 2-2 against Udinese. Roma and Mourinho beat Fiorentina 3-1 with Tammy Abraham getting 2 assists on his debut while Napoli beat Venezia 2-0. Milan beat Sampdoria 0-1. Inter, Lazio, Roma, and Napoli make up the top four at the moment with Atalanta and Milan sitting 7th and 8th. Juventus sit 10th in the table with a point to their name. A good weekend for everyone bar Juventus with Allegri having work to do over the coming week and already playing catch up. 

Bundesliga MW 2

Leipzig beat Stuttgart 4-0 to get their season running, Freiburg beat Dortmund 2-1, Leverkusen beat Monchengladbach 4-0, and Bayern beat Koln 3-2. Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, Leverkusen, and Bayern make up the top four in Germany. Leipzig and Dortmund sit 6th and 7th in the table. Bayern are already making up ground on the rest as teams like Dortmund drop points early on this season. 

Ligue MW 3

PSG beat Brest 2-4, Lens beat Monaco 0-2, Lille drew with St.Etienne 1-1, Lyon drew with Clermont 3-3, and the Marseille Nice game was called off due to a fiery incident between the players and supporters. PSG go 2 points clear at the top of the table with Angers, Nice and Clermont making up the top four. Lyon and Lille sit 16th and 17th while Monaco are 19th with all three teams still searching for their first win of the season. It’s already PSG’s title to lose in France and Messi hasn’t even stepped on the pitch yet.
