Movement in the table…

Premier League MW 8

Watford 0 vs. 5 Liverpool

Ranieri took charge of his first game as Watford manager against Liverpool but it was not a triumphant return to English football for the Italian manager. Mane scored in the 8th minute while Firmino scored a hattrick and Salah got his customary goal as well. Watford drop down to 16th with a loss that was expected while Liverpool remain 2nd a point behind Chelsea.

Southampton 1 vs. 0 Leeds

Chelsea loanee Broja scored his first goal in the Premier League in the 53rd minute and the 20 year old’s goal turned out to be enough for 3 points. Southampton move up to 15th with their first win of the season while Leeds drop down to 17th with the loss.

Norwich 0 vs. 0 Brighton

Norwich’s search for a first win continued as Brighton held them to a goalless draw. Norwich remain bottom of the table but have 2 draws to their name now while Brighton move into 4th with the win. Brighton fans will want to stop the league right now.

Newcastle 2 vs. 3 Tottenham

Steve Bruce’s 1000th game in football and the first game under the new Ownership started off brilliantly as Wilson gave the Magpies a lead in the 2nd minute. Tottenham responded by equalising in the 17th minute and Kane gave Spurs the lead in the 22nd minute. Aubameyang scored in the 8th minute to give Arsenal the lead but Palace were the better side. Benteke finally managed to equalise for Palace in the 50th minute and it was the least they deserved. Edouard then scored a brilliant goal in the 73rd minute to give Palace the lead. It looked like Palace and Vieira were heading for 3 points at the Emirates but the ball ricocheted in the box and Lacazette equalised right before full time to get a point for Arsenal. Arsenal drop down to 12th with the point while Palace drop two and remain 14th in the table. Vieira is doing a good job though and the results will come. More of the same for Arsenal though.

La Liga MW 9

Sevilla beat Celta Vigo 0-1, Osasuna beat Villarreal 1-2, and Barcelona beat Valencia 3-1. Real Sociedad have played a game more than everyone else and they sit top of the table by 3 points. Real, Sevilla, and Atletico make up the top four but Real and Atletico did not play this weekend. Barcelona move up to 7th in the table while Villarreal sit 12th. Games in hand at the moment so the full picture is not clear yet but entertaining none the less.

Serie MW 8

Lazio beat Inter 3-1, Milan beat Verona 3-2, Atalanta beat Empoli 1-4, Napoli beat Torino 1-0, and Juventus beat Roma 1-0 but Roma should have got a point. Napoli maintain their 100 percent record while Milan sit 2nd 2 points behind them. Inter are now 5 points behind Milan in 3rd while Roma are two points behind them in 4th. Lazio, Atalanta, Juventus sit 5th, 6th, and 7th in the table all on 14 points a point behind Roma. The race in Italy is as entertaining as ever and the likes of Juventus and Atalanta are quietly joining the party.

Bundesliga MW 8

Union Berlin beat Wolfsburg 2-0, Dortmund beat Mainz 3-1, Leipzig drew with Freiburg 1-1, Monchengladbach drew with Stuttgart 1-1, and Bayern beat Leverkusen 1-5. Bayern go a point clear at the top of the table while Dortmund sit 2nd, Leverkusen and Freiburg make up the top four. Wolfsburg sit 6th while, Leipzig sit 8th and Monchengladbach sit 10th. Bundesliga is a foregone conclusion when Bayern can thrash anyone they want. The only team that can lose the title for Bayern are Bayern.

Ligue MW 10

PSG beat Angers 2-1, Clermont beat Lille 1-0, Lyon beat Monaco 2-0, and Marseille beat Lorient 4-1. PSG go 9 points clear at the top of the table while Lens, Marseille, and Nice make up the top four. Still no goals from Messi, I don’t think he was even available for this game but PSG cruising to another title after a brief hiatus last season.
