Premier League MW 11

Southampton 1 vs. 0 Aston Villa

Adam Armstrong scored in the 3rd minute to give Southampton the lead and the Saints held on to it get their 3rd win of the season. Southampton move into 13th in the table while Villa dropped down to 16th. This was Villa’s 5th successive loss in the league and it meant that Dean Smith was sacked on Sunday night. In my opinion it was premature and Smith had done enough for some time but Villa took the action. Interesting to see who they bring in over the international break.

Man United 0 vs. 2 Man City

Bailly scored an own goal in the 7th minute to give City the lead and De Gea made quite a few saves to keep it 0-1. Silva then scored in the 45th minute to make it 0-2 and City cruised to 3 points. United sit 6th in the table with yet another loss and a game that was basically a training session for De Gea. City move into 2nd with the win and 3 points behind Chelsea.

Crystal Palace 2 vs. 0 Wolverhampton

Zaha scored in the 61st minute to give Palace the lead and Gallagher scored in the 78th minute to double the lead and give Palace yet another 3 points. Palace move up to 10th in the table with the win while Wolves drop into 8th with the loss. Palace and Vieira are flying high while Wolves are doing well but could not beat Palace in this game.

Brentford 1 vs. 2 Norwich

Normann scored in the 6th minute to give Norwich the lead and Pukki scored a penalty in the 29th minute to make it two for Norwich. Henry got one back for Brentford in the 60th minute but Norwich held on for their first win of the season. Brentford drop down to 14th with their 4th successive loss as the Bees realise that the Premier League isn’t as easy as they seemed it would be. Norwich remain bottom 5 points from safety and despite the win Farke was sacked soon after. Surprising to sack a manager after a win when you have the likes of Ole surviving after the last few weeks he has had. Similar to Villa it will be interesting to see who comes in over the next two weeks at the Canaries.

Brighton 1 vs. 1 Newcastle

Trossard scored in the 24th minute to give Brighton the lead via a penalty. Hayden equalised in the 66th minute for Newcastle. Sanchez was then sent off in extra time for Brighton. The game ended with both teams sharing a point. Brighton move up to 7th in the table but are without a win in their last five games while Newcastle remain 19th in the table but are the only team without a win this season. A big 2 weeks ahead for Newcastle as it looks like Eddie Howe will become their manager and will take charge soon.

Everton 0 vs. 0 Tottenham

Holgate was sent off for Everton in extra time and that was that as neither team could find the winner over 90 minutes. Everton drop down to 11th with the point while Spurs remain 9th in the table in what was Conte’s first Premier League game in charge of Spurs. Spurs were not able to register a shot on goal so there is clearly work to do.

Leeds 1 vs. 1 Leicester

Raphinha gave Leeds the lead in the 26th minute while Barnes equalised for Leicester 2 minutes later. Neither team could find the winner. Leeds move up to 15th with the point while Leicester drop down to 12th with the point. Rumours around that Rodgers could be the next United manager but that only happens if the Glazers actually pull the trigger with Ole.

Arsenal 1 vs. 0 Watford

Smith Rowe scored the only goal of the game in the 56th minute to give Arsenal the win at the Emirates. Kucka was sent off for Watford in the 89th minute. Arsenal move up to 5th in the table 2 points from top four and after the start that Arteta had at the beginning of the season this is great for him. Watford drop down to 17th in the table 2 points above the relegation zone.

West Ham 3 vs. 2 Liverpool

Alisson scored in the 4th minute to give West Ham the lead in what was the perfect start for the Hammers at home. Trent equalised for Liverpool in the 41st minute via a free kick. Fornals restored West Ham’s lead in the 67th minute and Zouma made it three for West Ham in the 74th minute. Origi scored for Liverpool in the 83rd minute to setup a nervy ending but West Ham held on to give Moyes his first win against Liverpool. West Ham move into 3rd level on points with City while Liverpool drop down to 4th in the table 4 points from the top spot. Work to do for Liverpool but West Ham and Moyes are flying high.

La Liga MW 13

Celta Vigo came back from 0-3 down to get a point against Barcelona as the game finished 3-3. Real Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1, Villarreal beat Getafe 1-0, Atletico drew with Valencia 3-3, Real Sociedad beat Osasuna 0-2, and Sevilla beat Real Betis 0-2. Sociedad stay a point clear at the top of the table while Real, Sevilla, and Atletico make up the top four with all of them having a game in hand. Barcelona and Valencia remain 9th and 10th while Villarreal sit 12th in the table. La Liga continues to be an interesting race and Real Sociedad have managed to stay top after 13 games.

Serie MW 12

Juventus beat Fiorentina 1-0, Atalanta beat Cagliari 1-2, Venezia beat Roma 3-2, Napoli drew with Verona 1-1, Lazio beat Salernitana 3-0, and Milan drew with Inter 1-1. Napoli and Milan remain top of the table level on points without a loss this season and 7 points clear of Inter who sit 3rd. Atalanta move up to 4th in the table while Lazio sit 5th in the table. Roma drop down to 6th in the table and Mourinho seems to be in trouble at the moment with things not going well. Juventus sit 8th in the table. Work to do for Mourinho during the international break for sure as Napoli and Milan run Serie A at the moment.

Bundesliga MW 11

Monchengladbach drew with Mainz 1-1, Bayern beat Freiburg 2-1, Wolfsburg beat Augsburg 1-0, Leipzig beat Dortmund 2-1, Leverkusen drew with Hertha Berlin 1-1. Bayern go 4 points clear at the top of the table as Dortmund sit 2nd and Freiburg and Wolfsburg make up the top four. Leipzig sit 5th in the table. Leverkusen sit 6th in the table. Monchengladbach sit 9th in the table. Bayern once again inching away from the rest in Germany.

Ligue MW 13

Lille drew with Angers 1-1, PSG beat Bordeaux 2-3, Marseille drew with Metz 0-0, Monaco drew with Reims, and Rennes beat Lyon 4-1. PSG go 10 points clear at the top of the table with Lens, Nice, and Marseille making up the top four. Lyon sit 7th in the table. Monaco and Lille sit 11th and 12th. Ligue 1 is a foregone conclusion.
