Weekend Football Preview

Boxing Day, and Merry Christmas!

Premier League MW 19

West Ham vs. Southampton

5th placed West Ham sit 4 points behind Arsenal as they take on 15th placed Southampton who are winless. West Ham have a game in hand and so do Southampton and both teams will want to bounce back with wins. West Ham were recently knocked out of the Carabao Cup and have only won one game recently. It’s an interesting game for sure.

Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace

Spurs sit 7th in the league and have 3 games in hand going into this game. Conte has seen his team perform well in the last two games after returning from a Covid break. Palace sit 11th and also have a game in hand going into this London Derby. Palace are a decent team and have caused problems to the big six in recent games, but Spurs look like they are catching form. A game to keep an eye on.

Norwich vs. Arsenal

Norwich have lost their last three and sit bottom of the table with a game in hand as they take on 4th placed Arsenal who have won their last three. Based on form Arsenal should comfortably win this game but Dean Smith has got Norwich playing better and there is a slight chance they can pull off a Christmas miracle.

Man City vs. Leicester

City sit 3 points clear at the top as they welcome 9th placed Leicester who have two games in hand. Leicester have been very inconsistent this season and no where near their usual levels so this game might be more comfortable than expected for City. City are flying and winning games for fun so this should be another three points for them.

Burnley vs. Everton

Burnley sit 18th in the table and have 3 games in hand as they take on Everton who sit 14th and have one game in hand. Burnley have only one loss in their last 5 games but have drawn four. Everton only have one win in their last several games. Burnley are the team in better form and they will make it tough for Everton who are desperate for a win.

Brighton vs. Brentford

13th placed Brighton have 2 games in hand as they take on Brentford who sit 12th and have 2 games in hand as well. Brighton have no wins recently while Brentford have only one loss in their last five games. Two teams who like to play high tempo football but it will all come down to who can finish their chances in this game. Should be an open one.

Newcastle vs. Man United

Newcastle sit 19th in the table as they take on United who sit 6th and have two games in hand. United are in good form having won their last three but have had two weeks off as well so they should be fresh going into this game. Newcastle have performed well under Eddie Howe but they are open at the back and United can take advantage. An interesting game but United should win.
