Best display in the Premier League.
Hazard was absent from the team as he looks to recover from a back injury, but that did not stop Chelsea from a rampant performance. The lineup was pretty straightforward but Barkley started in the third midfield role along with Pedro, Morata, and Willian upfront.
Burnley started the game the better of the two teams as they dominated Chelsea and for the opening 10 minutes of the game Chelsea barely had a glimpse of the ball. Chelsea began to grow into the game and our first goal came in the 22nd minute after Kante passed to Barkley who played a brilliant pass into Morata’s path for him to score his third goal in four games. Loftus-Cheek came on for Pedro midway through the first half as Pedro was feeling some discomfort in his stomach. Chelsea played out the rest of the first half but failed to create any clear chances. The second half started where the first half stopped with Chelsea dominating the play and Barkley added a second in the 57th minute with a brilliant driven shot from outside the box. Willian then added the third with a similar effort but this time curling the ball in the 62nd minute. Chelsea then finished the game off in extra time as Loftus-Cheek added the fourth.
It was a brilliant game and important for the players to show that Chelsea can win without Eden Hazard. Kepa made some brilliant saves during the game while the defence was generally good all around. Jorginho and Kante were silently magnificent while Barkley continues to go from strength to strength as he returns to form. Loftus-Cheek was not as effective at the wings but he did manage to get a goal which will boost his confidence. Willian had a good performance as he showed that he is a different player on the left hand side. Morata was brilliant and was unlucky to not get a hattrick as Hart made some brilliant saves. Giroud was good but unlucky not to score while Fabregas did his job.
Sarriball goes from strength to strength and the players seem to be hitting top form. Chelsea are a better team when the opponent comes out rather than sits and parks the bus. Burnley uncharacteristically did not park the bus and they were punished for that choice. Chelsea’s next game is against Fulham in the League Cup on Wednesday and the return of Frank Lampard, and loan players Mount, and Tomori. A brilliant game for sure! COME ON YOU BLUES.
