Weekend Football Preview

FA Cup is back!

FA Cup 4th Round

Arsenal vs. Man United

The 4th round kicks off with a mouth watering fixture on Friday as Arsenal welcome Manchester United to the Emirates. This fixture is yet to be played in the league while the reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw. Arsenal have been shaky of late but go into the game having beat Chelsea in the league 2-0, although Chelsea were extremely poor on the day. United have been flying high since Ole took charge of the club and have won 7 or 8 straight games in all competitions. Will Arsenal be the ones to finally pop Ole’s bubble or will United continue their hot streak? It should be a very exciting game and hopefully there are no replays.

Shrewsbury vs. Wolverhampton

Shrewsbury are 18th in League One as they beat Stoke City 2-3 away to reach the 4th round. Wolves are 8th in the Premier League and go into this game having beat Leicester 4-3 in an exciting fixture at home. Wolves should win this even though it is an away game although anything can happen in the FA Cup and Shrewsbury have nothing to lose.

Newcastle vs. Watford

Another all Premier League fixture as Newcastle face off against Watford. Newcastle beat Blackburn 2-4 in a replay and beat Cardiff 3-0 going into this game. Watford beat Woking 0-2 but drew their game against Burnley in the league. This should be a close game and based on league form Watford should win although in the FA Cup this fixture could go either way.

Brighton vs. West Brom

Brighton have lost two in a row although those defeats came against Liverpool and United and they were narrow ones, they beat Bournemouth 1-3 in the last round. West Brom are 3rd in the Championship and beat Wigan 1-0 in the last round, they go into this game having beat Bolton in the Championship. Brighton are great at home and so Brighton should reach the next round although West Brom have done brilliantly this season and victory will not be an easy feat.

Man City vs. Burnley

Man City face off against Premier League opposition as 16th place Burnley visit. Burnley beat Barnsley 1-0 in the last round and since the new year they have been in great form. Man City beat Rotherham 7-0 in the last round and should reach the next round as well but Burnley should make it an interesting game.

Millwall vs. Everton

Millwall beat Hull 2-1 in the last round and are 19th in the Championship as they face off against Everton who beat Lincoln City 2-1 in the last round. Everton are the better team but Millwall is rowdy place to go to with a passionate and vocal fan following. Everton should go through although it will not be easy.

Wimbledon vs. West Ham

A London Derby as 24th placed League One side Wimbledon take on West Ham. Wimbledon beat Fleetwood 2-3 to reach this round while West Ham beat Birmingham 2-0. West Ham should reach the next round without any major problems.

Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham

Another London Derby as Palace take on Tottenham at Selhurst Park. Palace beat Grimsby 1-0 in the last round while Tottenham beat Tranmere 0-7. Palace have done well against the big teams this season and beat City in December. Tottenham are without Kane, Alli, and Son, with Sissoko also possibly out. Palace have a good chance of causing an upset against Tottenham who suffered a tough loss against Chelsea in the League Cup semi final.

La Liga MW 21

Sevilla play Levante, Atletico play against Getafe, Barcelona travel to Girona, and Real travel to play Espanyol. The rest play catch up to Barcelona but they can be caught.

Serie MW 21

Milan play Napoli with Milan’s new forward Piatek in line for a debut. Atlanta play Roma, Inter travel to Turin to play Torino, and Juventus travel to Lazio. Big games in Serie A as Juventus look to take advantage and create an even bigger lead.

Bundesliga MW 19

Dortmund welcome Hannover, Bayer Leverkusen travel to Wolfsburg, Monchengladbach play Augsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt play Werder Bremen, Bayern welcome Stuttgart, and Leipzig travel to Dusseldorf. Interesting fixtures in Germany as Dortmund look increase their lead at the top.

Ligue 1 MW 22

Marseille play Lille, Monaco travel to Dijon without a manager as Henry is suspended after several poor results. Lyon play Amiens, and PSG play Rennes. PSG have pretty much won Ligue 1 but the rest are still fighting for Champions League qualification.
