Liverpool increase their lead!

Premier League MW 22

Sheffield United 1 vs. 0 West Ham

Sheffield United got back to winning ways after a run of poor games as McBurnie scored in the 53rd minute to give them a win. Moyes and West Ham had no answer as he suffered his first defeat as the Hammers manager. Sheffield climb up to 6th with the win while West Ham remain 16th but 1 point above the relegation zone. 

Crystal Palace 1 vs. 1 Arsenal

Aubameyang scored at the 12th minute to give Arsenal the lead as it looked like they would be heading for a comfortable win. Palace though grew into the game and in the 2nd half were the better side as Ayew equalised in the 54th minute. Aubameyang was then sent off for a dangerous tackle on Max Meyer. Palace tried hard to win the game but Arsenal stayed strong for the point. Palace remain 9th in the table while Arsenal remain 10th with 1 win in their last 5 games and now 11 points from the top four. 

Everton 1 vs. 0 Brighton

Richarlison scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute as Ancelotti returned to winning ways and kept a clean sheet against Brighton. Everton remain 11th with the win but now level on points with Arsenal while Brighton remain 14th in the table. 

Leicester 1 vs. 2 Southampton

Leicester may have beaten Southampton by 9 goals in the reverse fixture but Southampton exacted revenge as they came back to get three points against Leicester. Praet gave Leicester the lead in the 14th minute but Armstrong equalised for Southampton 5 minutes later. The two teams had several disallowed goals and chances to increase their lead and Southampton were actually the better off the two teams. The Saints hard work paid off in the 81st minute as Ings scored the winner. Leicester drop into 3rd with the loss while Southampton remain 12th but level on points with Arsenal. Hassenhutl has had a remarkable turn around beating Chelsea, Tottenham, and Leicester in recent weeks. 

Man United 4 vs. 0 Norwich

Rashford scored two while Martial and Greenwood added the rest as United returned to winning ways against a woeful Norwich side. The win keeps United at 5th while Norwich remain bottom of the table and now 8 points from safety as the challenge for Farke and his men begins to get bigger and bigger. 

Wolverhampton 1 vs. 1 Newcastle

Almiron gave Newcastle a lead in the 7th minute but Dendoncker equalised 7 minutes later for Wolves. There was no other goal in the game as neither team could break down the other. Wolves are now winless in 3 as they remain 7th in the table while Newcastle remain 13th winless in 4 but both teams ended their losing streak. 

Tottenham 0 vs. 1 Liverpool

Liverpool dominated the 1st half against Tottenham and got a goal to their name as Firmino gave them the lead in the 37th minute. Mourinho had set up his team to defend and they did that but could pose no threat to the Reds. The 2nd half saw changes from Mourinho as Lo Celso, and Lamela were brought on and the shift was evident as Tottenham created several chances and missed them. Tottenham probably deserved a point but Liverpool scraped another win as they increased their lead at the top to 14 points. Tottenham drop down to 8th and now sit 9 points from the top four as they are winless in their last three. 

Bournemouth 0 vs. 3 Watford

Another big win for Watford and Pearson as they climbed out of the relegation zone with the three points. Doucoure scored in the 1st half while Deeney and Pereyra added goals in the 2nd half. Watford make it 3 win in a row as they move into 17th while Bournemouth now only have 1 win in their last 11 games and they drop into 19th with the loss. 

Aston Villa 1 vs. 6 Man City

This was always going to be a big win for City and they did it in fashion as Aguero became the foreign player to score the most goals in the Premier League era surpassing Henry while also surpassng Shearer in most hattricks as well. Mahrez scored 2, Aguero scored 3 and Jesus scored 1 while Villa got a late consolation via an El Ghazi penalty in the 91st minute. City move into 2nd with the win, 14 points behind Liverpool while Villa drop back down into 18th. 

Supercopa De Espana

Real Madrid 0 (4) vs. (1) 0 Atletico Madrid

120 minutes saw no goals as neither team could break the other down but Atletico had a great chance in the 114th minute with Morata through on goal in a 1v1 situation but Valverde took one for the team and brought Morata down getting sent off in the process. Real Madrid won the penalties with Courtois making several saves and Valverde was named man of the match as both sides agreed they would have done the same thing if they were in his position. First trophy for Zidane this season as they set their sites on the League and Champions League with the Copa Del Rey also open. 

Serie MW 19

Milan beat Cagliari 0-2 with Zlatan getting off the mark and scoring for a 4th decade in a row. Lazio beat Napoli 1-0, Inter drew with Atalanta 1-1, and Juventus beat Roma 1-2. Juventus and Sarri return to the top of the table as they go 2 points clear of Inter while Lazio and Atalanta make up the top four. Roma are 5th, Milan are 10th and Napoli are 11th in the table. 

Ligue MW 20

Marseille beat Rennes 0-1, Lyon beat Bordeaux 1-2, Dijon beat Lille 1-0, and PSG drew with Monaco 3-3 in a feisty affair with 3 goals being scored in 14 minutes. PSG remain top of the table but now only 5 points ahead of Marseille with a game in hand while Rennes and Nantes make up the top four. Lille are 5th, Lyon are 7th and Monaco are 8th in the table.
